E-Cargo Bike Scheme Member

By signing up you confirm you wish to become a paid member of the Hanover Community bike share scheme when it launches in Autumn 2024. The scheme is open to over 18's only. Priority will be given to local Hanover residents. Every member will have to complete a full induction, where they can use and learn about the bikes before they pay and make their first hire.

How will the Hanover ECBS work?

When the scheme starts we will have 2 E-Cargo bikes available and a starting limit of 50 registered users. The scheme will run as a test for 18 months from public launch and then be reviewed by the trustees for adaptations/expansions/flexibility.

The bikes will be securely stored at the Hanover Community Centre (unless on an overnight hire). The centre will be the pick up and drop off point for every hire.

Pricing

Initially there will be 3 types of hire.

Day Hire 9am - 1pm (same day)   £10

Overnight 9am - 9am (following day) £25

Weekend Hire Fri 1pm - Mon 9am  £45

(These are all subject to change)

Each bike must be signed in and out with our centre staff. When a bike is rented overnight it must be securely stored inside.

There will be an annual membership fee for all hirers of £50, this will count towards any hires within that membership year.

The Bikes

The bikes chosen are equal to a full-size adult bike with internal gears and belt drives. They can be easily lifted when not carrying a heavy load.

Each bike will come with an open flat bed, to which large objects can be attached with straps, plus a giant carrying box with lid that can be fixed to the open bed easily for carrying loose objects. With a max rider weight of 100kgs and max payload of 85kgs, this should cover the vast majority of use. Meaning 185kg of total carrying capacity.

At launch we do not intend to have child carrying accessories. However this may change if we have enough interest from registered members and the scheme is running well. This will allow us to invest in the required accessories.

Every user will be responsible for the mechanical function of the bike whilst on hire. The bikes will have a regular scheduled maintenance check every month. Every member will have to complete a full induction, where they can use and learn about the bikes before they pay and make their first hire.
